Good for drilling, hope for some tweaks to future versions
I do like this app. The reason that I say its not /totally/ necessary is that anyone could just as easily drill themselves by writing out questions on a piece of paper, and working through them ... but shelling out the five bucks (like, 2 cups of coffee) is additional motivation, and it really is nice to have this software. Ive wanted to write something like this for a while.
My requests for future revisions:
- it would be great if the software factored in response time when determining if youve met a certain level. For example, Im rated as mathemagician in a few categories, when I know for certain that I am not. Also, some certain basic skills (eg, subtracting numbers that have to borrow from a higher power of ten, such as "123-76"), could have drills to ensure that the building blocks are down /cold/. Getting the /basics/ down (+, -, x, division) so you dont have to think about them is **extremely important**
- the mnemonics mentioned in the mathemagics book arent drilled at all ... that would have been nice.
- the color scheme is rather dull
All in all, despite my minor notes above, this app is worth it for someone who wants simple drilling software for your math skills. At the very least, it will get you working and thinking, which is more than practically anything you pick up for five bucks.
